Tina - 1980's How I met Sue

Created by Christina 2 years ago

Sue & I met in our 20's when we were both studying for our Company Secretarial qualification. Our early days were spent encouraging each other with our studies & nightclubbing in our downtime, where Sue introduced me to "Scotch & American" which is still a favourite tipple!

I remember when Sue met Nick, and I accompanied Sue to local pubs where Nick & his band were playing gigs. Nick & Sue were made for each other & complimented each other's strengths & weaknesses. I was so pleased to have been invited to celebrate their wedding & being impressed with their choice of wedding venue that I used the same venue when I eventually married. I can remember when Sue told me she had been for a scan at the start of potential IVF treatment, to have been told that she was already expecting her treasured son, James (I was so pleased for her & Nick now becoming a family unit & moving on from being a couple).

Sue was always smiling, upbeat, full of wise words, a great listener, helpful, dependable, wonderful mother & fantastic host. My daughter reminded me of a visit we made to Sue, Nick & James for lunch where Sue proceeded to produce a whole salmon for dinner (a wonderful memorable lunch which impressed my daughter immensely).

Although I had lost contact with Sue over recent years due to work & life in general, I always counted Sue as a close friend who I could talk to as if no time had passed since our last meeting. I am just so sorry I will not now have a chance for one more catch up with Sue but realise that we don't always know what life has in store for us, so should live it to the fullest, not waiting or putting things off until later, as it could be too late.

I can honestly say that my life has been enriched by having known Sue, & she will stay in my heart forever as a bright ray of sunshine, taken from us all far too soon.
